Info
Just
imagine you were in a band with a girl...
who
made audiences cry with her song
"The Sun Doesn't Rise in the Slaughterhouse"
but then she couldn't sing anymore, and it
was as if the song never existed. The girl
was Lucid Nation's founding drummer Debbie
Haliday. Except there was a DAT bootleg
of the song, from the band's second show
opening for Bikini Kill. So Brain Floss Records
was born, so great art would not be lost.
Deciding what kind of artists to emphasize
was easy. There's not much to say in boy
rock that hasn't already been said (as
Rimbaud pointed out over a hundred years
ago), but it's still hard for girls to get heard.
So Brain Floss emphasizes female artists,
especially the kind whose style might slip
through the cracks between indie pop, new
metal, dance divas and Lilith Faire. I
Intelligence rocking hard, that is our credo.
